The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Stories A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
